Anasazi Anthem
by
Lucki Melander Wilder

I have to admit to being so thrilled that you are still working on Anasazi Anthem!  -- Tamara Bond, New York
It kept me wanting to read; I think you have a winner here.  -- Diane Neill, Ontario

This free online novel-in-progress is based on the gone-but-not-forgotten TV series Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda. It picks up at the end of Season 2 and goes in a whole new direction; so it should be especially interesting to anyone who, like me, thought Season 3 was passable and after that everything went to hell in a handbasket. I want to sincerely thank my fellow FourFen -- Tamara Bond  (Queen Tiye), Catherine Hill (Caitronia), and Lillian Wolf (Una Salus Lillius) -- for their energetic encouragement, scintillating storystorming, and constructive criticism.

Anasazi Anthem has 22 chapters - plus prologue and epilogue - emulating Andromeda's 22-episode seasons, which may cause a scriptive, episodic flavor that doesn't usually exist in material not written for the screen. You'll find some cool retcon, though. The novel also assumes you are familiar with Andromeda and don't need to be given a detailed Seasons 1 & 2 backstory. Sadly, the series' website apparently expired. Still, for reminders of what went on in Andromeda, take a look at Andromeda (TV) Wikipedia, at All Systems University, and/or at several online fan wikis that have sprung up (but do watch out for the occasional inconsistency in all of 'em). Plus, you can catch the whole magilla on streaming services, or buy the CDs.

CURRENTLY AVAILABLE:  Note that your version of Adobe may not paginate from one chapter to the next exactly as mine does.

I look forward to your help in enhancing Anasazi Anthem (and especially in catching canonical errors) via your feedback. The first section was initially offered on the 10th anniversary of Andromeda's October 2, 2000 series premiere. I'd hoped, the novel would be completed by the 10th anniversary of the series May 13, 2005 finale (but there were no guarantees). Well, that certainly didn't happen. So, maybe by the 20th anniversary of the finale, or at least by the end of 2025. Keep your fingers crossed (which I can't, 'cuz that would sure slow down my typing). Chapters become available as they are written. Each time a new chapter is added, previous chapters may be reloaded, as they may contain changes that you or I noticed were needed.

While I found the writing going slower than hoped, it's gone pretty fast lately, as the 8 chapters posted this year alone will attest. Still plugging away at doing research, maintaining continuity, and IDing and emplacing retcon with the show and my previous chapters. Still amazed at how this story sometimes insists on going somewhere I never expected. Hope you're finding some amazing nuggets in it, too. Please keep my efforts on this work -- which, as noted below, one of my loved ones thought so important -- in your positive thoughts and prayers. Thanx. And look for the continuations of this labor of love in coming months. Inshallah.

P.S.  For those who ask why in heaven's name I'd spend enormous amounts of time (hence the 160K+ words already posted, the 8K+ awaiting post, and the 11K+ outlined beyond that) on something that won't earn me a dime, I can only invoke the hoary old phrase "labor of love". Oh, plus which, when my late spiritual mother Rezvanieh Collestan -- an equally avid Andromeda fan, senior citizen or no -- heard what I was aiming at in tying the Anasazi story to Progressive Revelation, she exclaimed, "Lucki joon, you have GOT to write that!" Yes, Mom.
